Rome launches new sustainable Super Hotels

Luxury hotels increasingly sustainable. Just like many new buildings in the capital. Indeed, environmental sustainability in architecture is now the first of the requirements that investors and real estate companies are looking for. The proof also comes from three 5-star hotels that are about to open in Rome: the first is the Radisson Collection in via delle Botteghe Oscure, pure rationalist architecture, which will be inaugurated on March 28.

«We have now gone well beyond the deceptive stereotypes that wanted the “eco-sustainable” building to be aesthetically lacking, expensive and with slower construction times», say the two architects who in Italy, among the first, promoted a new approach to the design and construction of buildings pursuing the objective since the early years of activity of «OGB STUDIO», Laura Scrimieri and Riccardo Hopps. Their offices are in Rome and Milan, and they base their consulting philosophy on the themes of environmental sustainability and healthiness of the environments, as well as on standards recognized throughout the world, such as LEED, BREEAM and WELL.

Other significant projects in the capital such as the Corinthia and the Rosewood, both historic buildings that offer unique panoramic views, respectively of the Chamber of Deputies and Via Veneto. These join a series of prestigious restorations, including the Deloitte building and the Cassa Depositi e Prestiti offices. In parallel, innovative projects such as the “Green Island” and the transformation of the former Poligrafico dello Stato highlight a growing commitment to urban sustainability, with particular attention to achieving important environmental certifications such as LEED.

The Domal exhibition space has obtained LEED Certification

When the priority objective is the sustainability of the places where people live, even a showroom can become green: the new Domal space in Milan has obtained the GOLD level of the LEED v4 ID+C certification. The prestigious goal, specific for interiors and retail spaces, was achieved after a long and delicate work of support and coordination of the entire certification procedure conducted by OGB STUDIO. 

In particular, attention was paid to the choice of materials free of VOCs (volatile organic compounds), highly toxic elements for those who live in indoor environments, often present in furnishings and building materials. In the project, in fact, it was preferred to select natural materials and introduce green elements to re-establish direct contact with nature even in closed spaces.

Great attention has also been paid to the aspect of energy efficiency thanks to the activation of an Advanced Commissioning process useful for verifying and testing the functionality of all systems to guarantee maximum energy performance; the installation of high-efficiency ventilation filters and heat recovery will ensure a healthy indoor environment throughout the year.
